Starting in 2017, Japanese telecommunications provider NTT and the Ars Electronica Futurelab worked together on how to use drones as a means of communication. The Sky Compass project laid the groundwork and Swarm Compass took the initiative to the next level: What if drone swarms could provide routing info for pedestrians or individualized guided city tours?
